THC student work gallery

With the funding situation for adult students being in the sad state that it is - the only thing we as tutors can do is to carry on promotion. And the best way to promote our courses is to show off ;) literally :) by showing what fantastic work our students produce.

my top 3 online browser testing tools

Browser testing is one of the most commonly performed tasks by any webdesigner and developer. Without access to a full test suite - it is the online tools which come to the rescue to test websites on various platforms and different browsers.

recent work

scribblebags

client Barry Leary, aka scribblebagsbrief create a new online presence, including archival portfolio and blogThe quirkiness of both creator and work made this project particularly lovely. Simply going for an idea I had and getting immediate positive feedback was brilliant. Happy blogging, Scribblebags.link→ view site

Inclusive New Media Design

inmd client Inclusive New Media Designbrief create 4 animated video presentations on the topic of ID accessibility as well as an updated design for the site
(for the new WordPress setup) This was a great project to be part of. After having attended the INMD workshops and having learnt a lot - I was really chuffed when I was given the job of animator/designer for this newly updated site. It was just wonderful to work with a team of lovely people and contribute to such a good cause, to highlight accessibility for people with intellectual disabilities.

  • dbCinema Binary Meditations -- ja 2010/02/06
These are 1280x1024 screenshots from movies generated with dbCinema. Most of these were produced by typing in the title of the series (such as "Kandinsky"). dbCinema then downloads images from the net somehow related to what was typed in and generates a painterly movie from those pictures. The below graphics are screenshots from the resulting movies. The series are listed in chronological order from older to newer.

  • The Art And Science Of The Email Signature - Smashing Magazine 2010/02/04
Email signatures are so easy to do well, that it’s really a shame how often they’re done poorly. Many people want their signature to reflect their personality, provide pertinent information and more, but they can easily go overboard. Why are email signatures important? They may be boring and the last item on your list of things to get right, but they affect the tone of every email you write.

  • Ahem – Jeffrey Zeldman Presents The Daily Report 2010/02/03
The first part of my post of 1 February was not an attack on Flash. It described a way of working with Flash that also supports users who don’t have access to Flash. I’ve followed and advocated that approach for 10 years. It has nothing to do with Apple’s recent decisions and everything to do with making content available to people and search engines.
