Web design is great, I like taking many online webinars at my school. I like learning anything related to flash, web design, graphic design, and new topics in general.

cameronmoll.com

Great background and colour.
Too much space unused.
No buttons to click at the top of the page (about or contact …)
Different site when using IE7 or Firefox and you can not go back to the main page

jek2k.com

Bad colour
Wrong positioning of buttons
Contact button very small and you have to search to find it.

limevista.com

Horrible boxes and font size
Colour horrible
Second box should have been with the logo
The box of the logo not complete for viewing

puchlerz.com

Bad font colour and background combination
Centered and too much space around
No buttons to navigate. Tired of scrolling

intrigue.ie

Bad colour combination
Big chunks of boxes for nothing (too much space)
The only nice thing about the site is the beautiful woman(take a closer look: nice header)

http://www.cameronmoll.com/portfolio/

First impression:
Love the colour scheme, texture & main image of this site - as a portfolio site it's nicely presented but confusing at first, what exactly the website is about, as the text/typography could perhaps be more emphasized? Still, probably one of the more interesting designs.

http://www.jek2k.com/

First impression:
Nice and easy to view, structured with Intro's/Titles and give me the option to navigate straight to, what I want to focus on. There is a nice balance btw images and written text. However, the main image, as a first impression, I wouldn't necessarily associate with a personal portfolio site but rather an on-line advertisement?

http://www.limevista.com/

First impression:
The site does not, as a first impression, scream out to me; 'great fantastic webdesign, an absolute must have' ....... but browsing through the main menu, the designs created for clients are quite interesting and the site does focus on essential subjects. As a first impression, there is really nothing that catches my attention extremely, wanting to see more .... - the contrast btw very strong colours and gray background doesn't particularly work well for me, - but the layout is nice and accessible. Definately one of the better designs.

http://www.puchlerz.com/

Love the graphic element of the Intro/Title but layout wise, there is a lot of empty space not being used in contrast to the contents ....... the gray scale of colours used do bring attention to the essential part of the site but not the most interesting website, design wise.

http://www.intrigue.ie

first impression:
Relieved - YES YES YES, no reading of endless chapters trying to guess what the website is about. Portfolio is 'visible images' I can actually see - easy to navigate through. Layout wise, the colour scheme does not work for me and portfolio could be displayed better, perhaps as slides, taking into consideration it's a huge portfolio. However, I do like the fact, that images are visible and I can decide straight away, what images I want to see close up. Practical but not a spectacular design.

re: jek2k.com - Nicolò Volpato

1.first impression
looked slick & professionl - liked extras, but unclear whether site aimed at fellow designers or clients. If I were a potential employer I would want more than visual clues as to suitablity of this person as a web-designer. Home page a lead-in rather a summary, which is frustrating if unwilling to browse.

2. layout
pleasing, spacious

3.colour scheme
restful, coherent, Sparing use of strong colour with grey works well.

4.typography
like font but not gaps between letters and words due to justified text.
also irritating that some text translated into english some not

re:limevista.com - LimeVista

1.immediate impression
immediate contrast to above - ie. very clearly aimed at potential employers - clear & succinct auto-recommendation, home page sums up etc. As to whether I personally like their style .....

2. layout
functional, easy to use, blissfully free of tricksy bits but too much on one page means images/colours clash and become incongrous.

3. colour scheme
nice clean colours of lime, banana, strawberry, muddled and spoiled by unattractive mix from portfolio.

4.typography
too big, unattractive font

re: puchlerz.com - Matt Pucherlz
1: first impression
irritation. I don't want to to know that he likes laughing and having fun.
"I am a advocate (sic) of web standards and separation of content, presentation, and behavior. I just finished college and I want to start one of my own. With any luck, maybe I'll have time to paint again. And go fishing."
Poor grammar & inability to construct a sentence ensures that author has ruled himself out as potential web-designer right from the start. Will have plenty of time for fishing and painting, though luck won't have anything to do with it.

2. layout
it's quite nice to be able to scroll down instead of hopping from page to page to view his portfolio, but images too small judge. No option to magnify another major flaw.

3.colour scheme
can't be bothered to look
the biog page reminiscent of Jack Daniels ad
everything following crude

re:http://www.intrigue.ie/

1: first impression
easy navigation is always a relief, but once again poor communication in written English puts me off. Also design cheesy and samey, strangely at odds with some of content. Will appeal only to non-creative clients (with very poor taste). And what's with the flock wallpaper, curlicues and the ladybird? Ladybirds don't even walk like that, flies do.

2. layout
functional enough though unimaginative.

3. colour scheme
hideous blue may suit hideous hairdressing site but very at odds with other parts of site, particularly photographs.

1. Clean. Neat. Spacious presentation. Good clear visuals with excellent images, invisting the niewer to explore further. Stimulating transition of images from one fruit to another, sharpening the appetite of the viewer for more!

2. Nice wide border encourraqing the viewer to focus on the content in the central panel

3. Simple but effective colour selection. Colour coordination quite clever. Clear vibrant colours on the fruit with a shadow and mirror effect beneath.

4.Clear type selection with a well-balanced text size variation.

5.The use of colour is a major selling point for the designers running this web-site. The visua;s would attract a lot of interrerest to theiur target audienmce

Matt Pucherlz seems like a really intereting individual. I feel that he should show this in the website by making it look more lively. The site has some really great work and it's especially good to see how much his work has improved. Adding colour and changing the current typeface will definately make a difference.
